SAC And Rosewood Bangkok Celebrate Women's Month With 'Herspective' | Thailand Tatler

Since 1967, International Women’s Day has been observed annually on March 8 throughout the globe. Commemorating the past struggles and continued fight for women’s rights, Subhashok the Arts Centre (SAC) and Rosewood Bangkok has joined forces for a special art exhibition: Herspective.

According to Jongsuwat Angsuvarnsiri, managing director of SAC, the Thai art scene still sees disproportionate numbers between prominent male and female artists. To address the issue, this latest show features the works of four female artists: Thidarat Chantachula, Praiya Ketkool, Thanathorn Suppakijjumnong and Aor Sutthiprapha. As mentioned, Herspective is a special collaboration between the art gallery and Rosewood Bangkok. The hotel’s Lakorn European Brasserie along with chef Florian Couteau and Giuseppe Carneli of Lennon’s have prepared a special set of chocolate bonbons and cocktails to fit the occasion. The exhibit also takes place on the third floor of the hotel until May 31, 2021. Here’s a quick preview of the artworks by the four artists.

Thanathorn uses an antique typewriter belonging to her family’s antiquated business to create her work. Her latest series, Together, presents a mosaic of a face covered with a medical mask. Small pieces of folded Awagami paper are shaded with positive words tapped out from the typewriter.
