I think everyone at some point was scared of those weird, green things that our parents put on our plates. At first, eating them was a challenge—a test to see if you were willing to please your parents and maybe even score some sweet, sweet dessert. As years have gone by though, many of us understand the bigger picture of eating our greens. We now realise that plants not only help us, but the world too.
Going vegan reduces your carbon footprint by 70 per cent and contributes to stopping mass wildlife extinction, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and—yes, our parents weren’t lying to us—supporting our physical and mental health. However, transitioning to veganism or even trying out vegan foods can seem daunting; luckily, Root the Future and Dear Tummy have your back.
Launched last week on February 25, the Vegan Basket is a collaboration between social enterprise Root The Future and supermarket Dear Tummy that’s set to become the hottest one-stop for all your plant-based food needs. Even if you’re not a hardcore vegan wizard, this new location has just the thing for beginners dabbling in the vegan arts. The Vegan Basket is proudly offering a selection of fun “accidental” vegan products. Everything you were worried about giving up like butter, cheese, bread and ice-cream is on the menu and just as delicious as ever!
