| am so proud to have been part of the opening of the first King’s College School Wimbledon international school in Bangkok. Despite last year being like no other the school has had an extremely successful start and we are so grateful for all the positive feedback we have had from our founding families. After a year of hard work setting up and building the campus, we are now able to get on with our mission of creating intelligent, well-rounded, and kind young men and women. Kindness also means recognising and celebrating differences and our students have an international mindset to prepare them for study or work anywhere in the world, With the best possible teachers, a diverse student body with over |6 nationalities represented already, a multitude of clubs and societies, and a variety of languages on offer, |nhope it is clear that we are serious about catering to students from any background and making sure that they are in touch with the wider world.
King’s College School, Wimbledon or King’s Wimbledon has a long tradition of high academic achievement with 90% of its students going on to their first-choice university, and more than 25% going to Oxbridge. King’s Wimbledon is committed to providing us with genuine input on the curriculum in both the Junior and Senior Schools, so as to ensure that King’s Bangkok provides the same standard of education. Furthermore, King’s Wimbledon interviewed all of our applicants, so that the quality of teaching would be equal between the two schools. Having had over 1,500 applicants last year and more than 2,000 this year, we have been able to select only the most passionate and qualified teachers. Our Head of Pre-Prep Helen Searle spent more than 20 years at international schools in the Middle East and helped me handpick teachers who are excellent role models for our students because of their kindness and good manners.
Our links with King’s Wimbledon run deep. | loved my time at King’s Wimbledon and | am glad to be working beside two wonderful Junior school teachers from King’s Wimbledon. We are looking forward to welcoming more staff: Matthew Gibson is currently a head of house at King’s Wimbledon and joins us to lead the senior school and we are lucky to be joined by our Head of Science and Head of Maths who also come directly from our Wimbledon campus. As well as staffing, we have implemented the same systems and policies to develop a truly world-class school.
