Longines pays a tribute to predecessing design with the new model in its Flagship collection. First launched in 1957, Flagship was among the very first collections for the Swiss watchmaker. The flagship, flying with the flag of the fleet’s commander-in-chief, gives the brand it’s very core: the winged hourglass icon. Today, Longines revisits this rare design, originally sporting the elegant cream dial and highly sought after by collectors, with a bold black dial and rose gold accents.
With a stainless steel case of 38.50 mm diameter, the model originally made for men is also widely seen on women’s wrists. This modern reinterpretation of 1950s’ aesthetics is equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement, the calibre L615. A nod to its forerunners, the case features bevelled, inward-pointing horns, giving the line its distinctive and stylish silhouette. The model also unveils a black lacquered domed dial with a polished finish. At six-o-clock are the date—indicated by an off-centre small seconds counter—and the Flagship inscription. Protecting the dial is sapphire crystal treated with layers upon layers of anti-reflective technology.Â
