Collabs between artists and brands or even brands and other brands know no end these days, and the latest to provide us with something to talk about is Valentino and Birkenstock. Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli has ganged up with Birkenstock to create the two styles of the popular Arizona model, which debutted at the recent Paris Fashion Week Men’s 2019 runway show.
Birkenstock sandals, which have resurfaced as a trend among millennials in the last few years, are supposedly loved for the same reason they are also hated: they’re ugly. But Piccioli emphasises the Birkenstock’s quality of adaptability in today’s styling as the reason for entering into the collaboration. “That’s the definition of inclusivity, ” the creative director says.
Appearing on the Valentino runway with socks, one style is black with VLTN printed on the side, while another is in the Valentino red.
So, would you buy a pair of Valentino Birkenstocks? The designs will be available for purchase online in June 2019.
