Latin America took Monaco’s Fashion Week catwalk last month by storm with the Presente Ancestral, or Ancestral Present, parade. Organised by Davily Partners and the Monagesca Association, its initiative is to highlight 18 Latin American designers who are innovating the world of fashion through the application of traditional techniques in outstanding haute couture design.

Ensuring that designs would carry within them high cultural importance, each of the designers worked hand-in-hand with local artisans of their home countries, inserting in every seam skilled techniques and design processes that have been passed down from generation to generation.Â

Known also as a charity event, exclusive designs were auctioned off, generating donations towards the Kaalán Neék Organization, whose focus is on the biological protection, reproduction and use of traditional seeds of the Mayan Culture.
Amongst popular designers, Vero Diaz, who represented Mexico, showcased a cultural Fall-Winter 2019 collection named “Ixchel”. Watch below. Â
