The evening of Thursday, September 27 saw the most prominent names of Thailand’s social elite, industry veterans and the nation’s game-changers gathered at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok for Thailand Tatler’s 27th anniversary ball.

Hosted every year by Thailand Tatler’s chairman Nigel Oakins and editor-in-chief Naphalai Areesorn, the ball has become a lot more than just a fancy soiree on the social calendar but also a means of gathering our brand’s closest friends—distinguished society personalities and familiar faces on our Thailand Tatler 500 list—to thank them for their support over the years and raise a glass to our storied past, as we look forwards to what lies ahead.

Having hosted the annual Thailand Tatler Ball for over 20 years, Thailand Tatler has always been known for our creatively lavish themes. This year, we took a more unconventional approach to our gala dinner with a playfully opulent theme—‘Havana Nights!’ The Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok was filled with bright hues, lively music and glitzy mingling—an apt celebration of 27 years of high society.

Well-attended by the most prominent, stylish and influential members of society, guests arrived true to theme in full Cuban fiesta-inspired attire. Guests were treated to a delectable Cuban-inspired four-course dinner and a hearty amount of rum-based aperitifs. There was live music by a Cuban trio, followed by a full-swing band playing Latin American favourites long into the evening. Alongside the most distinguished names in Thailand high society, the event was also graced by Cuban Ambassador HE Héctor Conde Almeida, his lovely wife Thelma Alina Picans Esnard  and their charming daughter Elena Olivia Conde Picans. They were joined by ambassadors from other Latin Aemrican countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Mexico and Peru, and true to the Thailand Tatler way, there was a dance floor.

Then, of course, there was the highly-anticipated awards ceremony. Person of the year went to Harald Link, CEO of B Grimm, while Petchpring and Kalin Sarasin won couple of the year.  Sirisopa Chulasewok and Sappasit Foongfaungchaveng were the most stylish woman and most stylish man, respectively, and Ploychompu Umpujh and Gavin Vongkusolkit were awarded the most eligible woman and man this year, respectively. A new award was also introduced during this year’s ceremony, a Thailand Tatler best residential award, which went to The Reserve 61 Hideaway, represented by CEO of Pruksa Real Estate Premium Prasert Taedullayasatit.
