The Thailand Tatler team gathered at Banyan Tree Residences Riverside Bangkok for the June issue cover shoot featuring real estate executive Sornsak Somwattana. The project is his company’s first foray into the luxury condo segment and the CEO of Nirvana Daii can’t hide his excitement. He is waiting for us in a roomy, marble-clad atrium with a comfortable lounge space and a long table with a ceiling-high bookshelf adjacent to it. Immediately catching the eye are the expansive windows offering spectacular views of the Chao Phraya River and the city’s skyline stretching into the distance. The vistas are uplifting, as is our cover boy’s mood.

Insider: Our cover boy admits that he usually prefers to be the man behind the camera rather than being the subject himself.
We started the morning by setting up base in a large meeting room and getting the high-spirited Sornsak ready for the shoot. Affable and patient despite his obvious innate get-up-and-go, he puts everyone at ease with his genial smile and quick patter. And it is his good humour and the indefatigable help of the Nirvana Daii team that ensure the photographic process passes off seamlessly and efficiently.
A highlight of the afternoon is a walk down to the development’s private pier, where Sornsak happily hops into a sleek pleasure boat to get extra images, all the while pointing out that the breeze coming off the river makes the location a cool place to live, particularly at the height of summer.
