You can now spend the night in a hotel room filled with colourful art by acclaimed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The Grand Hyatt Tokyo has teamed up with Murakami to redesign one of the award-winning luxury hotel’s executive-level suites as part of the Roppongi Hills Takashi Murakami Project. Being offered exclusively by Grand Hyatt Tokyo, the stay package in the Murakami-designed hotel room is the first of its kind.

Featuring 14 pieces of original art that Murakami created exclusively for this special collaboration, the room highlights a 195-centimetre golden Flower Parent and Child sculpture, a plush Flower and Child stuffed animal, pugs and flower balls. With so much detail and decor within the suite, Murakami’s playful touch can be spotted all over the space.
If your mind still craves for more visual stimulation, the lucky guest of the Murakami suite can further revel into the world of Murakami with a flower-themed dinner course, a flower box filled with sweets accompanied by rosé champagne, flower face masks and mugs you can take home and an autographed art book. Still need more? There’ll also be an optional flower-themed nail art service (¥22,000) accepting only one reservation per day.

“When I started to travel around the world and stay at hotels, I noticed that there were always works of art exhibited at Hyatt hotels, starting in the entrance area and all the way into individual guestrooms,” says the 59-year-old artist, “I remember thinking, ‘Oh, I see there is a need for art in this kind of context.’ It was different from the context of art with which I was working so I was fascinated. I wanted to try dipping into such a world, but I couldn’t find the entrance, and there was just no way in.” He adds, “I am happy to have such a special opportunity to display my work in a hotel room, and make my long-held dream come true.”

A one-night stay costs ¥450,000 (approximately 128,701 baht) for two people, but a third guest can be added for an additional ¥20,000 (5,720 baht).
