When Richard Mille dropped the RM 72-01 this year, watch junkies obsessed over the new patented flyback chronograph. Encased within the biocompatible grade 5 titanium case, the flyback chronograph splits the torque generated across the chronograph’s various counters for more precise calculation. The skeletonised display consists of the main time display with three, eight and 11 numbered out. On the seven o’clock corner, a date display is also available. This model has a power reserve of 50 hours.

Truly an aesthetically precious timepiece, the Arceau Lift Tourbillon Répétition Minutes is recognisable with a horse head cutout on the dial serving as a window into the watch’s intricate gears. The dial is available in white with pink gold or Abyss blue lacquer with white gold, both secured by an alligator leather strap. Within the 43mm case is the high-quality H1924 mechanism which incorporates the maison’s equestrian spirit in the double horse-shaped barrel bridge. The watch has a power reserve of 90 hours.

Bulgari’s Aluminium Chronograph is a reinterpretation of an earlier version the maison launched in 1988. Putting together an aluminium, rubber and quartz movement, the timepiece redefined luxury for the era. Today, only slight upgrades have been given to the original model. Still with the same 40 mm aluminium case, rubber bezel and rubber bracelet, the watch now sports the B130 calibre with three chronographs and a date display on the four o’clock angle. Visually speaking, the black and white contrasts give the piece a luxurious sporty look.

The most flamboyant on the list, Dior’s Grand Bal Plume was launched together with two other models, the Grand Soir Reine des Abeilles N°25 and the Grand Bal Ruban. The Grand Bal Plume is an embodiment of the fashion house’s savoir-faire in the form of a watch. The patented Dior Inversé 11 1/2 calibre with the externalised oscillating weight is meticulously decorated with colourful wild feathers to resemble the swirl of an evening gown atop the white mother-of-pearl dial. The bezel and dial are decorated with precious white diamonds, finishing the watch’s elegance.
