It is important for us to do whatever we can to help the current situation, and that includes staying home to decrease infection rates or something a little more active. Independent watchmaker Ressence and Sotheby’s watches division have joined forces to raise funds for the COVID-19 research programme at KU Leuven University in Belgium, and here’s how you can be a part of the cause.

The Type 1 Slim watch

Under the initiative, ‘Time To Draw’, watch enthusiasts get the chance to design Ressence’s latest model, Type 1 Slim. The watch is an embodiment of the brand’s revolutionary ROCS, or Ressesce Orbital Convex System. Making the timepiece unique, time is displayed in different subdials, each dedicated to hours, minutes, seconds and days. Contestants will download the outline of the timepiece then follow the instructions given. The winning design will be selected by Belgian designer and Ressense founder, Benoît Mintiens himself, and the finished piece with the name of the winner engraved will go under the hammer at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Important Watches auction on July 11. The proceeds after the bid will go to support the KU Leuven University in Belgium in their research.

The competition is open now until May 12, 2pm GMT (9pm Thai time). Follow the guidelines here to partake in the activity.
