Is this yet another attempt to blend two seemingly irrelevant paradigms the high fashion world has been so fond of doing lately? The collision of Dior and sensational K-pop boy band, BTS, has taken the internet by storm as fans of both industries discovered that Kim Jones, Dior Homme’s creative director, designed costumes for the Korean band’s 2019 world tour.

On May 2, Kim Jones announced the collaboration by posting on Instagram a sketch of the costume designs for the “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” world tour, confirming the gossip. The designs are a nod to Dior’s own futuristic pre-fall 2019 collection. On May 4, the band debuted their tour in Los Angeles, appearing on stage clad in Dior. Militaristic cargo pants, smart jumpsuits and the Sorayama harness, though intrinsic to the Dior Men’s collection, proved to be very compatible in the high-octane world of K-pop. Even for a non-K-pop fanatic, the concert was a treat to the eyes.
