On August 12, the Andy Warhol: Pop Art exhibition will finally hit Bangkok after two long years of planning. Lasting until November 24, this exhibition will be the very first time for Bangkok to see a showcase of Warhols of this scale—128 original works and memorabilia to be precise. For this show, rare pieces from the King of Pop Arts are being borrowed from the private collection of Gianfranco Rosini, an Italian art collector who as amassed one of the largest collections of Warhol in the world.Â
I believe that this exhibition is one of the most representative of the ‘European’ character of Andy Warhol, certainly the only one that includes glimpses of his many times in Italy!
— Gianfranco Rosini
Growing up in a creative environment, Rosini has had to opportunity to mingle with many famed artists and celebrities, including Judy Garland’s daughter, Liza Minnelli who introduced him to Warhol in Rome. It was the works of Warhol that Rosini first spent his money on, and the collection has grown until what you will see at the exhibition at the RCB Galleria.Â
