To the excitement of her fans, Lady Gaga recently revealed her makeover for the upcoming biographical film House of Gucci. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film is written by Robert Bentivegna, based on Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed. The film follows a dramatised version of real-life events that led to the assassination of Maurizio Gucci, former head of the fashion house and grandson of Gucci’s founder, Guccio Gucci.
In November 2019, it was announced that Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and who also has Italian ancestry, will be playing the role of Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, played by Adam Driver. The singer-actress revealed the photo of her and co-star Adam dressed in character on Instagram, with the caption, “Signore e Signora Gucci #HouseOfGucci,” which translates to “Mr and Mrs Gucci”.

In 1973, Reggiani married Maurizio Gucci, and the two quickly became one of Italy’s most famous power couples. Gucci left her for another woman, leading to the couple’s divorce in 1994. The next year, Gucci was shot multiple times by a hitman and killed. In 1998, Reggiani was convicted of his murder after a highly publicised trial and ended up serving 18 years in prison, where she earned the nickname Black Widow.
This will be Gaga’s second starring role in a film since her Oscar-nominated performance in her debut movie, A Star Is Born. House of Gucci also stars Al Pacino, Jared Leto and Jeremy Irons. The film is expected to hit theatres on November 24, 2021.
