If you’re like many of us, you probably want to reduce your ecological impact while taking care of your health and your wallet. What if we told you that it’s possible to replace your commercial dish soap with a homemade, natural, and super effective recipe?

Why Ditch Commercial Dish Soap?

Before to reveal the recipe, let’s talk a little about why I made this change. Commercial dish soaps are often packed with harsh chemicals that can be irritating to the skin, and that’s not all. Their plastic packaging, which is hard to recycle, adds to our growing mountain of waste. But it doesn’t stop there: many of these products contain surfactants, cleaning agents that can be harmful over time, both to our health and the environment.

So, why not choose a healthier, more economical, and, most importantly, more eco-friendly alternative? We’ve discovered a super simple recipe made from natural ingredients that are easy to find.

The 3 Miracle Ingredients

Black soap, baking soda, and washing soda crystals come together to create a powerful, eco-friendly dishwashing solution that is not only effective but also gentle on both your skin and the environment. Black soap, made from olive or linseed oil, is renowned for its deep cleaning and nourishing properties.

Unlike commercial dish soaps, it cleans thoroughly without leaving a greasy residue on your dishes, making it a must-have for anyone seeking a more natural, skin-friendly alternative. Baking soda is another essential ingredient, widely known for its mild abrasiveness and deodorizing abilities. It’s excellent at cutting through grease without scratching delicate surfaces, and it’s incredibly versatile, so you can use it for various other cleaning tasks around the house. Washing soda crystals, although less commonly known, play a crucial role in breaking down grease and oils, helping them dissolve in water for easier removal.

They also prevent buildup in your pipes, keeping your drains cleaner for longer. Together, these three ingredients create a natural and cost-effective solution that not only leaves your dishes sparkling but also reduces your reliance on harsh chemicals and plastic packaging.

The Homemade Recipe: Easy, Quick, and Economical

Making your own homemade dish soap is easier than you might think. To get started, begin by adding one tablespoon of baking soda and one tablespoon of washing soda crystals into the bottle. Next, pour about two centimeters of liquid black soap into the bottom. No need to add too much, as black soap is highly concentrated and does the job effectively.

Then, fill the bottle with hot water, leaving a little space at the top so you can shake everything together. Once the bottle is closed tightly, shake it vigorously to mix all the ingredients well. You’ll notice that the soap is smooth and ready to use.
