The 44th president of the United States of America and the rock legend famously known for the song Born in the USA—this is the podcast American dreams are made of. It’s finally Barack Obama’s turn to headline on Spotify after The Michelle Obama Podcast drew up a storm of fans on the streaming platform this past summer. Teaming up with Bruce Springsteen, the former president will be co-hosting Renegades: Born in the USA, a podcast set to discuss fatherhood, marriage, the state of America and race in its first season of eight episodes.

Renegades is highly expected to add to the Obama family’s media success, following the popularity of Michelle’s podcast. In Barack fashion, he keeps his public outlook on the Springsteen collaboration humble: “He’s a white guy, from a small town in Jersey. I’m a Black guy of mixed race, born in Hawaii. He’s a rock’n’roll icon. I’m… not as cool,” say the man who did a literal mic drop in The White House. (Sure, Barack, sure).
The friendship between Springsteen and Obama formulated after their meeting during Barack’s 2009 presidential campaign. “What we discovered during these conversations was that we still share a fundamental belief in the American idea. Not as an act of nostalgia, but as a compass for the hard work that lies before us.”
The first two episodes of Renegades are available exclusively to the hundreds of millions of Free and Premium Spotify users around the world now. Give them a listen here:
