Marking the fourth year of the competition, its winner will receive the opportunity to travel to Amsterdam for a training session with yet another award-winning chef, Onno Kokmeijer. The prize, furthermore, includes round trip airfare to Amsterdam, eight nights’ accommodation at the Hotel Okura Amsterdam, lunch and dinner at the hotel’s acclaimed Yamazato and Ciel Bleu restaurants, a day trip in Amsterdam, plus visa arrangements, travel insurance and pocket money.

Looking back at last year’s competition, only five contestants were chosen to be trained under master chef Shigeru Hagiwara, and by no means was it a light experience. The chef refined each applicant’s basic skills from chopping vegetables to specialised techiques of preparing fish for sashimi. With Japanese savoir-faire and creativity, each young chefs presented their final dish to the judging panel and last year, Kanitta Pongaekkawat won the nine-day trip to Amsterdam.
