Gravity Sky Bar

Street art enthusiasts have even more reason to hit the beach with the opening of Gravity Sky Bar at Novotel Hua Hin Cha Am Beach Resort & Spa. In addition to the hip décor, impressive selection of aperitifs and stunning view of The Gulf of Thailand, the walls of this new hangout spot are covered in artworks by two top dawgs in Bangkok’s street art scene: Rukkit Kuanha-wate and Kittipong Kamsart, or Goh-M.

Here’s the lowdown on everything you need to know about Novotel Hua Hin’s latest venture:

The Street Artists

Gravity Sky Bar’s walls feature the best in Bangkok’s street art scene, adding a playful pop of youth to the rooftop venue’s laid-back, welcoming vibe rarely seen in fancy sky bars. Rukkit, whose work can be found beyond Thailand in places like Seoul, Dubai and Hong Kong, has created an aquatic-themed mural in his signature colourful and bold geometric style for the sky bar, while Kittipong Kamsart—AKA rapper Goh-M of Buddha Bless—complements Rukkit’s piece with a similiar theme but juxtaposes with curves and more flowy lines.

The Décor

Art deco and pop art vibes are strong in the furniture sets at Gravity Sky Bar. Featuring a cool palette and playful geometric patterns, these comfy, custom-made “sitting cubes”—as we like to call them—can be easily moved around on the outdoor deck to accomodate social situations, making mingling a little more fun and relaxing.

The Views & Drinks

While Gravity Sky Bar achieves cool, laid-back vibes with hip furnishing and street style décor, service is still undoubtedly classy and the drinks list maintains its position as a high-end rooftop venue. Opt for one of the bar’s signature “Sensory Cocktails”, a selection that blends sight, smell, sound, texture and taste for the ultimate aperitif experience. Those into more classic options can choose from the collection of wine and spirits. The venue also serves as a good spot for events, with a capacity that can accomodate up to 110 people and a private dining area perfect for special occasions, such as a wedding. Let’s not fail to mention the unbelievable 360-degree view of The Gulf, 24 storeys above sea level.

The Grand Opening

Last month, the opening ceremony of this latest sky bar in Hua Hin was presided over by the deput mayor of Cha-Am, Apinan Pornsombulsiri, and the hotel’s general manager, Alexander Eaton. In attendance at the grand opening were celebrities such as Tangmo Pataratida Patcharawirapong, and 2017 Cleo Bachelors Chupat Harnharuiharn, Chatpong Harnharuiharn and Niti Ekpathomsak.
