Sandwiches can be as humble or as extravagant as you want them to be, but for us, we prefer the fancy. Presenting posh diners with the very best bread and fillings that money can buy, starting this month, the Mandarin Oriental is presenting gourmet sandwiches crafted by three of its finest chefs. From October 2020 until the end of January 2021, chefs Arnaud Sauthier, Dario Busnelli and Nick Gannaway will rotate to their salivating creations that you can grab any Mandarin Oriental shop. Here are the not-so-humble sandwiches to expect.

Chef Arnaud Dunand Sauthier of the legendary Le Normandie restaurant is the first to offer you the MO’s new gourmet experience. His Panini Lukulus sandwich features tender, slow-cooked beef tongue with salt-baked beetroot and pesto sauce, intensified with premium capers. This creation is a reincarnation of a salad from his hometown, Brittany. The beef tongue alone requires days to prepare, so it would be wise to place your pre-order now. Panini Lukulus will be available throughout October.

For November, chef Dario Busnelli of Ciao Terrazza, the hotel’s riverside Italian restaurant, will be serving you the second deluxe sandwich. Coinciding with the reopening of the restaurant during the month, chef Busnelli will transport you to the Mediterranean with his Volare sandwich. Featuring poached lobster and seafood in thyme oil and focaccia, the recipe is derived from his grandmother. The Volare sandwich will be available throughout November.

Skipping December, you can start the new year fresh with chef Nick Gannaway’s creation in January 2021. The chef of the popular Lord Jim’s will be presenting a reinterpretation of the American Ruben sandwich with an opulent twist. “Not So” Reuben is an American grilled sandwich with corned pork—in lieu of beef—finished with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and a Russian dressing. This alternative recipe is made to suit the Thai demographic while supporting local business with a partnership with a small pig farm in Chiang Mai. The corned pork will melt in your mouth with a beautiful aroma of applewood smoke, as the crispy crunch of the sourdough rye bread completes the experience.

Sandwiches are priced 540 baht per piece. Pre-order your gourmet sandwiches now by calling 02-659-9000 or visit any one of the Mandarin Oriental Shops at Siam Paragon, Central Chidlom, The Emporium or Gaysorn Village. Keep up with the hotel’s happenings and special offers at mandarinoriental.com.
