Croatian Masterchef Nikola Lesar Opens Issara Restaurant In Phuket | Thailand Tatler

Opened earlier this month in Kata Noi, Phuket, Issara Restaurant is the latest milestone in the culinary career of Croatian Masterchef winner Nikola Lesar. Meaning ‘freedom’, of course, in pasa Thai, Issara celebrates Thai flavours and champions local produce but unconventionally by framing them with the myriad of global influences that have shaped this illustrious chef-owner.

Chef Nikola Lesar

An image of the beautifully inked Issara Lady, described as a “rebellious giesha breaking away from expectations”, welcomes diners to the restaurant while also foreshadowing the rule-bending culinary experience ahead. On the menu, find signatures such as the spicy tuna tartare with avocado, wasabi mayo, ikura and wonton nachos; the chili crab tagliatelle XO carbonara and grilled tiger prawn; and Barracuda Teriyaki with shitake chestnut risotto and mushroom tempura, just to name a few of the highlights. Pair the creations with an equally innovative cocktail from the bar or a classic or organic wine—your pick—as there are no rules here.
