This July, the Peninsula invites you to celebrate World Chocolate Day and the launch of the hotel’s signature chocolate collection. The fantastical experience is combined with a special weekend brunch that features a selection of delicious gourmet bites, including seafood on ice, egg specialities and free-flowing wines and beer.
We were invited to an early preview of the Peninsula’s World Chocolate Day experience, so here’s what to expect:
When you first enter the Peninsula’s lobby, a grand foyer perched upon the Chao Praya river, a light smell of cocoa will linger in the air. Staff will greet you, escorting you towards a chocolate-themed alley. As you meander through, discovering the origin and intricacies of chocolate, that light smell of cocoa will grow stronger and stronger until you arrive at the factory entrance. And when you do, a dream-like chocolate factory appears, as if by magic.
Inside the chocolate wonderland, pâtissiers and chocolatiers perform live demonstrations that offer an array of artisanal chocolate masterpieces crafted by the hotel’s executive pastry chef, Nicolas Pelloie, and his team. On offer are an abundance of chocolate truffles with various flavours, plant-based superfood chocolate, lollipops, flourless chocolate cake, chocolate madeleines and The Peninsula’s signature chocolate delights prepared with an exclusive blend by French chocolatier, Valrhona.
And the journey doesn’t end there. Upstairs is host to the Peninsula Chocolate Bar, featuring gourmet chocolate bonbons and truffles with tropical mango, coconut and chilli fillings, as well as flavoured hot-chocolate drinks inspired by Thai fruits.
Experience this fun-filled brunch and chocolate factory tour on July 6 and 7, from noon until 3pm, at the Peninsula Bangkok Hotel. Call 02-020-2888 to book your chocolatey adventure.
