The Banyan Tree Bangkok invites passionate runners to take part in the ultimate sports challenge for a good cause, as the Vertical Marathon returns again for the 19th time.
A unique annual event, the Vertical Marathon is a race that gets runners to pit themselves against gravity as they race up all 61 floors of the 5-Star Bangkok hotel. Participants of all age-groups and experience levels are invited to test their limits in an intense surge upwards, conquering over 1,000 steps to end up at the luxury hotel's award-winning Vertigo Grill and Moon Bar. Participants who make it all the way to the top will receive a medal to add to their awards collection, along with a front-row view of Bangkok’s skyline.
But even more important than the prize of getting to chill at Vertigo with your medal and self-satisfaction is the fact that the proceeds of the run go towards HRH Princess Soamsawali's Thai Red Cross HIV Formula Feeding Fund, a fund created to provide babies of HIV-afflicted mothers with the infant formula they need for their development.
Banyan Tree's Vertical Marathon takes place on Sunday, February 25. A 400-baht registration fee includes entry, an official event T-shirt and additional priveleges available on the day of the race. Those interested in running for the greater good can register from now until February 19 at gotorace.com or Banyan Tree Bangkok’s front desk.
