It's always fascinating when luxury watchmakers undertake a special design theme or create watches for a special occasion or event, such as the Olympics.

The latest themed watch collection that has caught our eyes is Rado's True Thinline Nature Collection. Capitalising on what we believe is an inherent human appreciation for nature, the collection contains timepieces representing three beautiful elements of nature: earth, water and plants.

Blending these organic motifs with the lustrous case and bracelet of a modern Rado timepiece was no routine design task. Through a creative partneship with Grandi Diarini Italiani, an association of major gardens in Italy and Malta, Rado decided to apply a different treatment to the ceramic dial of each True Thinline Nature model in order to justly capture the spirit of each of the elements.

With the Earth model, a textured metallised coating of the dial brings out the sendimentary and sometimes reflective quality of earth or soil. In the Water timepiece,  the mother-of-pearl dial is painted in an enchanting blue with textures that echo the ebb and flow of the open sea.  And, for those who absolutely adore  green foliage, Leaf features an emerald-green mother-of pearl dial, accented by lovely thin lines like a leaf's veins.  Furthermore, straps of the watches come in a metallic hue complementary to the dials: metallic brown, blue or green.
