NAPIRA TRAVEl stylist Focus
Napira Techacharn’s love of travelling inspired her to set up a unique venture seven years ago. As the name suggests, Napira Travel Stylist is not your average tour or travel agency, but one that specialises in curating, or styling, travel itineraries. Extraordinary ones.
Whether you’re looking to go on an excursion with a large group, experience a destination like the locals, live the high life or see the sights with a personal assistant at your side, Napira and her team can make your dream holiday happen. We sat down with the 34-year-old founder for a quick Q&A session. Her answers are likely to inspire your travel plans for some time to come.
Where are some of your favourite travel destinations?
I know it’s a cliché but I would have to say Japan, as it is one of those countries that never gets dull. There is everything that you want there—the food is amazing and the people are exceptionally friendly. Iceland is another top pick for me. Everywhere you go the scenery is pleasing to the eye.
We heard you’re an avid foodie—which are some of your favourite dining destinations?
Spain is a top contender, as I’ve never left any restaurant there feeling disappointed. But I would also have to mention Montenegro, as many Thais have the impression that the food there is not suited to our taste buds. My first visit at Stari Mlini is still vivid in my memory. Walking through a long and dark alley, with a flashlight in hand, we arrived at the restaurant and were greeted with a breathtaking panorama of an 18th century flourmill amid mountains and the bay of Kotor. We didn’t even expect the food to wow us, but it did. Iceland is another destination I have to mention, as some Thais have the misconception that people there only eat fish. They actually have excellent butter, which needs to be promoted more of.
What are some of your favourite restaurants to dine at in each country?
In Paris, my go-to is Neige d’été, a Japanese-French fusion restaurant. I went there before it got its first Michelin star and now it has become quite busy. As for Tokyo, I can never get enough of the two-Michelin-starred Sushi Hashiguchi.
In your opinion, what are the three most overhyped travel destinations for Thais?
Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.
How about the three most underrated destinations that you would recommend travel enthusiasts to visit?
Definitely Antarctica, Bolivia and Svalbard.
Where do you think are the three most romantic travel destinations for lovebirds?
I would start with Leh Ladakh, India—it’s one of those places that enable you to learn more about the other person, whether he or she could truly take care of you. Finland is also romantic, especially if you elevate the experience by staying at an igloo hotel. Another one is Lake Como, Italy, as the scenery is incredibly stunning.
How many times a year do you travel?
Around once or twice a month.
If you could pick a foreign country to live in for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I would have to say Japan, as everything is exceptionally convenient and I’m quite familiar with the country.
If you could spend a week travelling with anyone anywhere in the world, who and where would it be?
I don’t think the destination matters as long as I go there with someone who makes me feel happy and completely at ease. Better yet, someone who could make me forget my mobile phone!
