Round they rise gently into the darkening Balinese sky. First is the full moon in its silvery fullness, followed by the colourful hot-air balloon, giving its passengers a new way to experience the beautiful Island of the Gods in a slow, lingering stillness. Exclusively provided for guests of The Chedi Club Ubud in Bali, the flight package is completed with a special dinner made by executive chef Khairudin “Dean” Nor. The balloon flight is also available on two other schedules with breakfast to complete the sunrise ascent and teatime snacks perfect for the late afternoon.

For families, this unforgettable experience is extended to fit two children in the basket as long as the total doesn’t exceed the 230kg maximum weight—taking into account that the flight includes an experienced pilot. Floating 50 metres high for five to seven minutes on a tether overlooking Bali’s fertile highlands, from its green paddy fields to Mount Agung in the distance and the whole five acres of the Chedi Club—which belongs to architect-cum-collector Hendra Hadiprana—guests will be left wanting for words upon touchdown on the downy grass.

Given the two main seasons in this tropical paradise, the recently launched flights are available from June to November. During the other six months, guests are spoilt for choice in ways to explore Bali, either by foot to roam the paddy fields and indigenous villages led by a personal butler, or via a private car service to visit temples, markets, and galleries— among other choices.
