For our February cover shoot, we met Rarin Tumwattana and Dr Suriya Poolvoralaks at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Bangkok overlooking the Royal Bangkok Sports Club on Rajadamri Road. Beautifully designed to reflect the timeless legacy of the Waldorf Astoria brand, but also celebrating Thai culture with subtle Lana motifs here and there, the venue offered an abundance of chic backdrops and cosy nooks. So many, in fact, that we were only able utilise a few in the end.

Despite claiming not to be au fait with being in front of the camera, or with rocking fashionable attire by the likes of Loewe, Hermes, Prada and other haute couture labels on a daily basis, our cover couple were relaxed and comfortable and patience personified. Both seemed to enjoy trying on the jewellery items by Bulgari that were provided to complement their outfits.

Insider: Suriya loves playing games on Line, although he is often reluctant to let Rarin join in. Worried about being beaten, perhaps?

While a full-on day taking posed pictures can be stressful, Rarin and Suriya’s friendly and laidback demeanours made the process easy for everyone involved. The day concluded with the lovely couple giving us insights into their relationship. Funny, sometimes quirky, open and engagingly honest, they were a pleasure to sit down with and the perfect pair to help us celebrate the month of love.
