Ayu Chuepa, who goes by Lee, is part of the Akha hill tribe found in Thailand’s northern mountains. the Maejantai village Lee is from specialises in growing and processing sustainable organic coffee beans. Inspired
by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and his mother, Princess Srinagarindra, Ayu founded Akha Ama Coffee to help his fellow villagers combine their cultivation strengths and centralise the process and marketing of their coffee. He runs the Akha Ama Coffee Journey project, where participants from across the globe travel to Maejantai to see firsthand the way of life of a coffee farmer. Lee also recently opened living Factory, a coffee warehouse, roaster, cafe and workshop in Chiang Mai.
