You don't become the new face of Chanel for being ordinary. As Chanel recently launched its Cruise 2017/2018 Collection, you may have noticed a bold belle whom you couldn't quite name as fast as you would Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne or Lily-Rose Depp—that is, unless you are deep into contemporary French cinema. Here are the basic facts you need to know about C's new girl, Marine Vacth.
Marine is French. Of course, she is! Born in 1991 in Paris, her family is of Lorrainian origins.
Yes, she's a model
Marine was first scouted to be a model at the age of 14 in an H&M. One of her most notable modeling achievements (besides Chanel now) is a campaign for Yves Saint Laurent's Parisienne perfume in 2014, in which the then 23-year-old succeeded Kate Moss as the line's presenter.
She's more serious about acting though
In interviews, Marine has expressed her dedication to performing roles for motion pictures (rather serious ones for that matter) over posing for photographs. Her first acting break was at the age of 20 in a Cedric Klapisch's comedy, My Piece of the Pie. Her most talked-about film so far, however, is probably Young & Beautiful (2013), in which she is naked for most of the film playing a callous teen prostitute. Perhaps the reason you may not have heard of this film or of Vacth's performance in it is because the film's release coincided with another sexually bold coming-of-age French drama, Blue is the Warmest Colour.
She's a mum
Marine has a three-year-old boy, Henri, with photographer Paul Schmidt. On a side note, Paul's Instagram, which features a lot of Marine professionally and personally, is quite enjoyable to scroll through.
