Beyond the luscious furs for which Fendi is renowned, another product that springs to mind with any mention of the Italian fashion house is its signature bag, the Peekaboo, a mainstay in every collection since spring 2009.
This year, in keeping with the brand’s ethos of combining exquisite handcrafting with the world’s most luxurious fabrics, Fendi presents a limited edition of the famous tote in Himalayan crocodile leather. The new arrival is exclusively available at Fendi’s Landmark boutique, as are three mini versions in candy-coloured crocodile skin.
The Peekaboo is one of the few luxury handbags whose design encourages it to be left open. Usability was a key factor for designer Silvia Venturini Fendi, who named the bag after the cheeky childhood game because
the flaps allow the user to get a glimpse inside with ease. The designer is a firm believer in “whispered luxury,” a sense of sophistication that’s unassuming and practical yet luxurious in detail and craftsmanship.
The Peekaboo bag is the perfect embodiment of Venturini Fendi’s aesthetic, which is the reason it has become a timeless classic of the fashion house.
