More and more Asian fashion labels have joined the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week over the years but only one brand has represented Thailand during this prestigious event. Mother and son duo Busardi and Tuck Muntarbhorn teamed up to created Busardi back in 2009 and while Tuck has recently decided to relinquish his title as CEO, he remains a consultant to the company. He spared a moment to have a tiny chat with us.
“I’ve always known the beauty in my mother’s designs and that all things are possible,” he says. “As I stand here today, I am truly proud to have ignited the courage to produce Busardi’s fashion shows in Paris during the Haute Couture Week. As for my mother, cultivating international exposure and recognition has given her greater confidence to make beauty manifest in the form of clothing.”
After gracing the Paris runways with its formidable creations and receiving much praise from the international world of fashion over the years, the semi-couture label just showcased its latest autumn/winter 2017 collection back home at the Anantara Bangkok Hotel. “After showing in Paris, presenting our work in Thailand is as natural and easy as breathing,” Tuck smiles.
As he explains, the collection entitled Harmony has as its essence the harmonious blend between traditional opposites. “Thai and Western design and fabrics; rigid and fluid fabrics and opaque and translucent fabrics,” says Tuck.
Feminine and quietly authoritative is how he describes the label. The key to success, he says, is to focus on the artistry of the designer’s creations – make beauty manifest.
