June 8 saw the creme-de-la-creme of society gathered at the tropical island paradise of Samui, as A-list celebrities, distinguished guests and socialites, both local and international, celebrated the grand opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui. The evening was full of glamorous mingling, cocktails and—as to be expected of such a spectacular event—a dress code. Following a theme of tropical chic, the event saw a vibrant blend of florals and satin, as socialites and celebs are always ready to impress. Here we’ve gathered 10 of the best dressed at the party, so you’ll know what you’re missing from your dream summer wardrobe.
Not everyone can pull off bright yellow—especially not head to toe—but star athlete and Thailand Tatler's Generation T lister Ploy Bhinsaeng does it so well. Bold, bright and absolutely stunning, the fit equestrian and co-founder of TribeBKK cycling studio pairs a light-hearted polka dot off-shoulder with incredibly stylish Asian-inspired print. Completing the look with sapphire blue sandals and a circular woven bag, Ploy reminds us that florals aren’t the only way to do tropical chic.
Fa Benedetti & The Sugunnasils
Here’s another take on the tropical theme. Last year’s June cover girl Fa Benedetti and the ever-gorgeous Sipim Sugunnasil brought all the tropical necessities to the party, from vibrant prints to chic open-toe sandals and boho clutches. A special shoutout to Von Sugunnasil, who reminds us that effortless charm—cue a sunset print and one charismatic smile—can go a long way at parties.
Equally stunning at the party were the international guests, such as Rebekah Yeoh from Malaysia. A social entrepreneur-slash-corporate finance manager at YTL Corporation Berhad, Rebekah’s vibrant tangerine number perfectly complemented her bubbly and vivacious persona, as well as slim figure. She styled the look with a matching orange YSL clutch and statement dangling earrings.
Another popular international face spotted at the event was the gorgeous Ase Wang. Considered one of Thailand’s most successful models, Ase was raised in Singapore and has worked in countries throughout the globe, starring in commercials and shows that have aired worldwide. Constantly splitting her time between countries, the grand opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui fortunately made it into her tight schedule. Here she looks effortlessly stunning in a simple light mauve one-shoulder dress from ASAVA, tied at the waist with a striped rope to accentuate her wonderful figure.
CEO of Chaophraya Express Boat Supapan Pichaironarongsongkram knows how to turn heads and isn’t afraid to make a statement, brightening up the venue with a swirl of colours. Flowy and light, she adds a burst of positivity to the room and nicely elevated her look with a pearl necklace.
ML Kathathong Thongyai and ML Kwankamol Thongyai
When it comes to adorable matching couple outfits, ML Kathathong Thongyai and his wife ML Kwankamol Thongyai definitely take the win. The pair arrived as a vision of indigo tie-dye, a unique but nevertheless fitting interpretation of the beachy theme.
Naphalai Areesorn and Siriluck Maithai
Not all couple-goals are exclusively between love-birds, as proven by this friend-goals of a photo featuring none other than our very own editor-in-chief Naphalai Areesorn and Siriluck Maithai, director of The Mall Group and Peninsula Bangkok. From Naphalai’s simple yet stylish number to Siriluck’s eccentric blend of vibrant textures, here’s a fresh and chic take on the theme.
CEO of Thai Solar Energy and senior executive vice president of BEC World, Cathleen Maleenont proves her prowess both as a pioneer in her industry and in fashion, gracing the event in a vibrant sleeveless dress highlighting abstract tribal patterns. Elegant curls and a red lip give the whole look that extra oomph.
A prominent figure in the Thai A-list crowd, Chitramontn Techaphaiboon has always been known for being stylishly dressed no matter the occasion. So it really is no surprise that she made it on our best dressed list. Going all white from head to toe, Chitramont makes a statement with a strapless top that gracefully blends with her elegant trousers, accentuated with only a few flowers for just a touch of colour. With a white clutch and head scarf for added effect, this outfit was difficult to beat.
The Style Squad
Of course, Chitramontn would surround herself with an equally stylish entourage. Mom Chailai Yugala na Ayudhya, Tipaporn Ajanant and Chitra Konuntakiet joined the lady in white, complementing with hues of coral pink, sea blue and sunset red and orange . As the group stood together in a blend of tropical sophistication, we couldn't help but marvel at their uninhibited sense of style. This is not a squad to be messed with.
