Not counting the Bangkok Biennale that's set to happen for this first time ever this fall, Hotel Art Fair is perhaps the city's most highly anticipated art event of the years showcasing the might of our creativity. Hosted by Farmgroup, this year's Hotel Art Fair spanned six floors of 137 PIllars Suits & Residence on Sukhumvit 39, filling over 34 rooms with art, art and more art. The fair was open for public viewing on the weekend of June 9-10, but a special opening ceremony was held on the evening of June 8 for industry people.
The 2018 Hotel Art Fair marks the fifth year of Farmgroup's proud tradition of introducing and supporting talented local artists. The event also, by tradition, allocated rooms for select galleries and international guest stars, such as Spain's Joan Cornella and Japan's Manabu Koga, just to namedrop a few favourites. An established occasion among Bangkok's art community, which includes those who buy art, familiar faces such as Orawan Ingkhasit, Vasu Virajsilp and Paul Sirisant were easily spotted having a great time on opening night. And, of course, artists themselves wouldn't shy away from making an appearance at this event. The likes of Thanachai Ujjin (AKA Pod Moderndog), Pomme Chan and Alex Face were there to present their works and enjoy art like the rest of us.
