The India International Film Awards (IIFA), the biggest Indian film event which has been held in 12 different countries in the past 15 years, will be taking place in Bangkok this weekend, June 21-24.

The second time this Indian film extravaganza has been held in the City of Angels—the first time being its debut in 2008, which saw the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone —the upcoming edition is set to highlight the young superstars of tomorrow in Bollywood, including many second-generation stars from famed Bollywood film families, such as Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The emcee himself is the young and superbly successful director Karan Johar.

Hosted at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, the inauguration event of this year's IIFA on June 21—an exhibition of prize movie memorabilia from Mumbai's famed Osianama—will preview collectibles to be auctioned off on Saturday, June 23, at the Great Hall of the Marriott Marquis.

On Friday, an official press con of the IIFA will be held at noon at the Marriott. Afterwards, the festivities will be shifted to Siam Niramit with an electrifying "IIFA Rocks" Bollywood musical themed night.

Finally, on the evening June 24, the IIFA will launch with a green carpet at Siam Niramit, followed by the main awards event. Among the Bollywood star-studded crowd to be expected, the gorgeous and legendary actress Rekha recently announced that she will be attending the event.

With Bollywood films gaining a lot of popularity in Thailand, one hopes that many Thais would get to see the spectacular IIFA green carpet show especially, at Siam Niramit on Sunday 24 June. Considered the highlight of the entire event, the green carpet show never fails to amaze as a brilliant amalgam of colour, action, drama,  music and dance in the best of Bollywood traditions.
